CREATE YOUR OWN PIPS PUZZLE
Pips Custom changes the role you play in a logic puzzle. Instead of opening a ready-made board and searching for its solution, you become the Puzzle Master who builds the challenge from scratch. Design a grid, divide it into regions, define their rules, then turn your creation into a puzzle that friends or other players can solve.
The flexible editor makes the mode useful for players who enjoy both solving and creating puzzles. It can also work well for teachers, parents, or anyone looking for a simple way to create logic-based number challenges.
HOW TO DESIGN A CUSTOM DOMINO PUZZLE
Start by shaping the puzzle on a square grid in Pips Custom. The canvas can support different layouts, with some versions allowing boards up to 12×12 cells. Fill the cells with pip values from 0 to 6, representing the dots found on domino pieces.
The editor can then use neighboring cells to form valid domino pairs, giving you a practical starting point for building the board. From there, organize cells into colored regions and decide what each section must satisfy.
Set Rules For Each Region
Different regions can use different conditions:
- [=] - Values in the region must be equal.
- [≠] - Values must be different.
- Sum - The pips must add up to a specified number.
- [> / <] - The required total must be above or below a chosen value.
The final puzzle should provide enough information for the solver to reason through the domino placements rather than simply guess.
Test And Share Your Creation
Once the layout and rules are ready, check the puzzle before sending it out. Pips Custom can encode a completed creation into a unique URL, allowing you to share the challenge directly with others without requiring them to create an account.
This sharing system also gives creators a quick way to test unusual layouts with friends or compare different approaches to puzzle design.
